bash, espace et pipe

Salut,

J'ai constaté sur différentes machines (Ubuntu ou Debian) avec bash
comme shell, que si il n'y avait un espace après un pipe ça ne
marchait pas.

Exemple :

ça marche       ls |wc -l
ça marche pas   ls | wc -l

Quelqu'un à une explication ?
