orienté Sys Admin que la precedente (pour l'Institut Laue-Langevin).

IT Systems Engineer

Job description: The EMBL Grenoble Computer and Network team provides
the EMBL Grenoble Outstation and UVHCI with the entire range of IT
services required for a high-end structual biology research
environment. This includes clustered computer capacity, scientific
web-based service hosting, e-mail hosting, large storage systems,
central backup facility, network systems, and helpdesk.

The IT Systems Engineer will mainly be in charge of the following:

- Defining and maintaining the tools to provide an industry-grade
linux production environment;
- Preparing, installing, maintaining computer services primarily based
on Linux systems;
- Assessing new technologies for applicability to the Outstation's needs;
- Maintaining and developing internal web service based on
apache/sql-postgres/ldap;
- Performing any further Computer and Network team tasks when the
other members are not available.


Furthermore, we are looking for candidates with:
- in-depth technical experience with Unix / Linux Systems;
- Extensive knowledge of Unix-based services (MTAs, NFS, DNS, SMB, PHP, etc.)
- Programming and scripting ability (Python, Perl, bash, C);
- Detailed knowledge of Redhat-like Linux distibutions and especially
their automated deployment;
- Intermediate to advanced verbal and written communication in English
and French;
- Aptitude to produce and maintain reliable and documented work;
- Ability to work effectively in a team;
- Balanced interest in Opensource as well as proprietary technologies.

Contract: An initial contract of 3 years will be offered to the
successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances
at the time of review.
