J'ai eus le mm probleme sur ma g400, voila comment je l'ai resolu
apparemment, le X se lance par defaut avec des polices 75, ce qui est
trop petit,donc, il faut charger les 100 à la place:
apt-get install xfonts-100dpi-transcoded
puis dans XF86config-4
tu commentes la ligne:
# FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/"
et tu rajoutes celle ci:
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/"
