Je joins un mail que j'envoie aux gens de VMware pour protester contre le
prix excessif auquel ils comptent vendre leur produit.
Je vous convie à faire de même, en guise de pétition, afin qu'ils
reconsidèrent le prix.
Vous connaissez tous VMware ? C'est une "machine virtuelle" qui permet de
démarrer n'importe quel système d'exploitation dans un système
d'exploitation hôte différent. Notamment démarrer Windows dans une fenêtre
ou en plein écran sous X/Linux. De plus, les performances sont excellentes.
En attendant Wine, voici enfin une solution superbe, à part son prix.
On peut télécharger une version bêta, utilisable un mois, à

Subject: Too expensive !
Do you really plan to sell VMware 300$? Who is going to buy it at that
price? A negligible number of professionals? I'd rather use my good old
dual-boot than spend so much money, even as a professional, and I think I'm
not the only one.
I would compare your product to Wabi, the Windows 3.1 emulator from Sun. It
offered the same functionality than VMware (of course limited to Windows
3.1), but only for 50$, which made Wabi accessible to most of us.
I would strongly recommend you to adopt an attractive pricing policy. I'm
sure you will then sell your product in large quantities, especially to a
growing Linux community that still needs to run Windows applications from
time to time.
