Probablement un problème dans un (ton ?) DNS.

$ host ftp.lip6.fr
ftp.lip6.fr is a nickname for nephtys.lip6.fr
nephtys.lip6.fr has address 195.83.118.1
[...]

Et il répond au ping, nephtys.
